We've Officially Entered the Calling All Innovators Contest

Wooooohoooo! Dice Hero is now officially entered into the Calling All Innovators Contest. It will be a while before we get the results back, but starting next week we will begin developing Dice Hero 2.0, which promises to be packed with cool new features and plenty of great new content!

Stay posted, we'll get a video of v1.0 up here, and (as soon as it is publicly available) a link to download Dice Hero for your Symbian device FOR FREE!

Heroes' Darkest Hour

Well, OK, it's not that dark. But it IS late! And we are grinding away on the last features of Dice Hero v1.0!
Murphy's always lurking about, for sure, but we are officially in a late Beta phase right now (Gamma? Can we call it Gamma?) and there's not a WHOLE lot left to do before we release to Ovi, the Nokia app store.

Plus, we've also got a nice stack of interesting features and content to add to v2.0, which we expect to have finished in early May. But that's a heroic tale for another time. For now, it's back to work!

Development Preview 1

Our first development preview showing Box2D physics. What you see is a big button that says "Hold to Roll," and when we roll, lookit them suckers move! Those may just be black squares now, but we'll be sticking our art in there, soon. What you might not notice, however, is that we have text being displayed over each die in realtime, at the proper orientation. That will soon become the numbers on the dice!

Rockin' and Rollin' with Box2D

Another big thank you goes to the folks over at Box2D for creating some awesome, awesome tools for us to use. Often when developing games, the physics or mechanics of moving objects becomes a massive time sink. There's always math, and critical thinking, and then the issue of accuracy vs aesthetics vs playability vs efficiency. So when you have a nifty, full-featured 2D physics engine ready to go, AND it integrates seamlessly with your project, you jump on it. And you give the developers some major props.

Special Thanks

... to Jessica Fricke, our Director of Photography! She's a photographer in training and just happened to have bought a new camera the same day we went looking for some dice images. How perfect is that? She got to break in her new camera by photographing some dice for us.

Production Underway!

Our team of Heroes have assembled, and are toiling away at producing the ultimate dice app for Symbian phones! Furthermore, we were told we needed a website. (Because we're professional like that).
